Fiskars to continue winning stream: another two Red Dot Awards for Product Design 2017

Fiskars has been awarded the title “Red Dot: Best of the Best” for top design quality and ground-breaking design to Fiskars PowerGear™ X Pruners and the title “Red Dot” for high design quality to Fiskars PowerGear™ X Tree Pruners.

“It’s highly inspirational to design products that get rewarded for their exceptional performance and ability to make the everyday easier for our consumers. Winning a Red Dot award is a high honour and speaks of the design team’s talent to design world class products”, says Petteri Masalin, VP of Research and Design at Fiskars.

Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award: “The Red Dot winners are pursuing the right design strategy. They have recognised that good design and economic success go hand in hand. The award by the critical Red Dot jury documents their high design quality and is indicative of their successful design policy.”

Fiskars PowerGear™ X Pruners

The new PowerGear™ X series includes two bypass and one anvil pruners. The bypass pruners are suitable for fresh wood and neat pruning, while the anvil is optimised for hard pruning and dead wood, for tasks where a clean cut is not crucial.

The ingenious PowerGear™ mechanism is complemented by sharp, quality steel blades and lightweight durable FiberComp™ construction. The unique, rotating SoftGrip™ handle, combined with extra hard blades, ensures that the cutting is  effortless and precise. The pruner blades are made from extra hard, corrosion resistant steel (CrMoV) that ensures they stay sharp longer.

Fiskars offers two different pruner sizes suitable from small to medium and medium to large hands. All PowerGear™ X pruners can be used to cut branches up to 2 cm thick.

The new Fiskars PowerGear™ X Tree Pruners

The PowerGear™ mechanism of the Fiskars Tree Pruners makes cutting effortless, while the orange blade support improves precision and visibility.

Reaching and cutting tricky branches is both safer and easier with the new Fiskars PowerGear™ X Tree Pruners.

The Fiskars PowerGearX™ tree pruners were further developed for extending the cutting power when cutting branches very high up - or low. Fiskars offers two new tree pruners: the adjustable telescopic version that reaches up to 6 meters high and the ordinary tree pruner that reaches up to 4 meters.

The new tree pruners’ super-efficient bypass cutting mechanism makes cutting up to 12 times easier than standard mechanisms and the cutting angle can be adjusted up to 230° with a handy lock. An orange blade support improves visibility and offers support when cutting. Wear- resistant soft-touch handles offer an excellent grip and increase comfort. The anti-slip base prevents slipping during storage.

Cutting that tricky overhead branch and bringing it down safely without fuss is now even easier and safer with the new Fiskars tree pruners.

About the Red Dot Design Award

In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award breaks down into the three disciplines of Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The Red Dot Award is organised by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and is one of the world’s largest design competitions. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. Ever since, the sought-after Red Dot award has been the revered international seal of outstanding design quality. More information is available at www.red-dot.org.
