Wood has always been a special raw material for Fiskars Group. Our history of owning and managing forests began with the need for wood-fueled fires, an essential element of traditional ironworks. Since founding our ironworks in 1649 in the village of Fiskars, the company has evolved and changed extensively. We wanted to preserve an important part of our heritage in forestry located near our Southern Finnish birthplace, Fiskars Village.
Just 40 kilometers from Fiskars Village lies Källviken, a special 40-hectare parcel that the company acquired in 1891. This scenic area is a unique destination, which combines diverse Finnish forest, pristine natural beaches, coastal rock faces, and is filled with rich history.
Emperor Alexander III of Russia and his wife Princess Dagmar of Denmark often visited the area at the end of 19th century, not only to enjoy the pristine landscape, but also to stop and refill their water reserves. Hence, the local spring known for its exceptionally clear and clean water was named Dagmar Spring. To honor the history of this natural wonderland, we called the area Dagmar Park.
