Forestry and farming

Around 11,000 hectares of the 15,000 hectares owned by Fiskars comprise productive forestland and generate some 40,000 m3 of timber annually for sale to forest products companies. Specialty timber also goes to the company's own sawmill, and harvesting waste is supplied as fuel to local heating plants. Annual growth exceeds the amount of timber felled. Forestland is managed according to the principles of sustainable forestry, and Fiskars is a partner in the two most widespread certification systems in use in Finland (PEFC and FSC).

Around 10% of land is protected as conservation areas or otherwise not used commercially.

Real Estate's Forest Department offers forest planning services and forest management consultancy services to landowners.

Fiskars acquires forest and farmland in areas where it already owns land.

Agriculture

Real Estate manages around 360 hectares of arable land and meadowland, the bulk of which is leased to local farmers. Wheat and rye are grown on the rest of the arable land. The gardens and parks in Fiskars Village are maintained by Real Estate's Agricultural Department.
